My story of djing and producing electronic music in Uruguay

I learnt djing with DJ koolt in 2011. A Charismatic and true technique perfectionist. Always hand picking truly unique tracks and keeping an intense groove in his sets, I've seen him perform countless times even with his alias Mr Koolt, alternative mind blowing tracks.

I can say after seeing what people consider top djs that Dj Koolt is a notable influential character of our underground. .Many other recognized dj's, and artists have emerged from Uruguay's Underground.. A quick recomendation is Z@p, his mixes are farfetched and he is also a great selector that created songs that denote our local electronic dna.

I studied music production with Kembou, a self taught underground producer master of synths and DAW. Kembou's live sets are unique and perfectly executed in terms of timing and balance.

I continued to practice and played for friends for the past 15 years. Last year after a dear friend helped me recover my midi controller, I recorded a set. Previously I lost all my music. I also produced a song called meja meja.

My alias as a dj is crateful mood (link below), since ironicaly my crates were empty but I could still be time efficent and record a set. And even have a practice session at Dj Koolt's studio, a truly magical experience..

Many more sets are on the way, it's a huge passion playing for friends, and recording as a memory. to enjoy later. I am a fan of underground electronic music. But also listen from tango to hip hop, brazilian music, rock, you name it.. Music!

I think performing a dj set is like writing a story, with living characters, the art lies in the balance and reading the dancefloor to keep it going and surprised.

Long live Uruguay's underground that has great taste and artists keep emerging.
